Phase 2 of Operation Toofan Launched in Alamcode Gramapanchayath

Operation Toofan' (Toofan Local Body - Phase 2), a joint initiative by the Home Department and the Local Self-Government Department to strengthen the anti-drug campaign in Kerala:
Key Objectives and Activities:
- Toofan Vigilance Committees (Toofan Local Body):
- Public committees will be formed at the ward level under the leadership of local self-government institutions to curb drug trafficking and usage.
- Active participation will be ensured from Kudumbashree, Residents' Associations, and the Haritha Karma Sena.
- Toofan Care:
- Provides treatment, counseling, and rehabilitation to teenagers and first-time users trapped in drug abuse.
- Assistance will be sought from the Health Department, Indian Medical Association (IMA), psychiatrists, and hospitals.
- Toofan Grama Sabhas:
- Special 'Toofan Grama Sabhas' will be convened in all wards to expand anti-drug initiatives to the grass-roots level.
- Drug-Free Campuses:
- CCTV cameras will be installed in schools alongside expanding anti-drug activities on campuses.
- Schools achieving drug-free status will be awarded the 'Toofan Drug-Free Campus Accreditation'.
- Volunteer Services:
- 'Thunder Volunteers' and 'Toofan Warriors' will be appointed to coordinate anti-drug activities at the local level.
